Pontefract Course Guide and Statistics
The course at Pontefract
Pontefract is a left-handed, undulating oval of about two miles, one of the longest Flat circuits in Britain. There is no true straight course, and the finish climbs steeply uphill after the final bend.
Betting at Pontefract
The stiff finish rewards stamina, and horses that race prominently can be caught near the line. A low draw is often an advantage because of the turns. Course form is a strong indicator, as horses tend to handle the gradients or not.
